In November of 1989, Debra Flott moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama and opened the Gulf Shores Steamer. Debra brought many years of restaurant experience with her. She eventually expanded her restaurant business and opened "Ribs and Reds" and "The Shipwreck". She later sold the latter two restaurants so she could focus on her original restaurant, "The Gulf Shores Steamer".
Also Debra had great help from her staff. Her daughter Ashley Ouellette was the general manager from 1995 to 2000. She would return to the restaurant business in November of 2006, when her mother sadly passed away.
The Gulf Shores Steamer has been featured in such magazines and daily newspapers as Southern Living, Coastal Living, New Orleans Times Picayune, and many other noted periodicals. The Steamer continues to thrive with the leadership of Scott Coe, Ashley Ouellette and her husband Jeff Price. The Steamer specializes in steamed and grilled seafood. The motto at the Steamer has always been "NO FRIED". To this date, Debra Flott's love of steamed seafood remains at the heart of the Gulf Shores Steamer.
The Steamer serves delicious steamed Royal Red Shrimp, Snow Crab Legs, Mussels and Oysters. We also have a great selection of grilled fish, and for the 'land lover', we serve delicious hand-cut steaks, grilled chicken breasts, sandwiches, and the 'Island's Best Cheeseburger'. Our specialty has always been combination platters that can feed two to four people and more. Come visit the Gulf Shores Steamer to see what all the critics rave about. It's casual family dining in a laid back coastal atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you there.
